Way back in 2012 I wrote a blog post about my export settings for high definition videos in Premiere Pro. That post went on to become one of the most popular posts on my site. Wanna know what the second most popular post was? My video export settings for Instagram videos in Premiere Pro.

There’s a trend here, and I realized that with the advent of 4K video, I had the opportunity to create a new text and video tutorial about the settings that I use when shooting with my Sony A7Sii. As I prepared to create this tutorial, I decided that this would be the perfect time to revisit those posts about my high definition and Instagram export settings, and create videos for them as well. Today you can watch my 4K export settings tutorial, and in the near future, I’ll be posting videos about my settings for high definition and Instagram exports.

  3. Why is there black bars around my video

  4. Great video, as usual. Quick question. Any idea why the video would be a lot brighter after export? First time I used these settings, I had no issues. Now, working on a different project, after export, the video is a lot brighter. I've tried exporting it again, using the default youtube 4k settings from premier pro, and I had no issues there.

  5. Hey Matt! Do you think the H.265 format in 4K can also be used for YouTube? My Premiere crashes every time I select the h.264 format in the export window, so i have no other option…

  16. What happens if I grab that 24fps footage, placed in that 24fps sequence, and export it in 60fps format?? What happens then? Does it affect the final outcome negatively? Or does it do nothing but make the export/rendering process slower….. ?

  17. Hello, could I ask you for a help with export my video in Premier pro?
I worked in program for a month on it (it is just holiday video) but last days it started to be not fluent work so I decided to export first half. But when I make export, appear encoding and none progress 😏☹️ please could you help me what to do? I just wanted to help PC to get rid of finished work amd then start second half and in the end just put two halves together.
    ☹️ Thank you

  22. I see your sequence settings aren't in 1080, but your export settings are. In your opinion, is it better to edit the sequence in the original 4k sequence settings, or to edit 4k in a 1080 sequence? I hope this question makes sense. I love editing but this technical stuff REALLY trips me up.

  23. Hey Matt! I'm a videographer and shoot almost all of my music videos in 4K. But every time I seem to upload a video to YouTube, the autogenerated images for thumbnails are blurry and pixelated. I've tried so many different methods to amend this. Any clue how to get this fixed? Is there something I'm missing in my Premiere export settings that may cause this?
